1. Overview

Currency Converter ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that converts currencies using live exchange rates and optionally displays an informational support banner on web pages. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not:

• Collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information
• Track your browsing history or the websites you visit
• Record what you type, convert, or search
• Share any data with third parties, advertisers, or analytics services
• Use cookies or any cross-site tracking mechanisms

3. Local Storage

The Extension stores the following data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or anyone else:

• Selected currencies — your "from" and "to" currency preferences
• Cached exchange rates — rates fetched from our server, stored temporarily to allow offline operation
• Banner dismissed state — whether you have closed the support banner, so it is not shown again for the same campaign
• Banner enabled preference — whether you have turned the banner on or off via the popup toggle

4. Network Requests

The Extension communicates exclusively with the developer's own server to fetch:

• Exchange rates — current currency rates used for conversion
• Banner configuration — text, colors, and button link for the optional support banner (banner can be disabled at any time via the popup)

No personal data, user identifiers, device information, or browsing data is included in these requests. Requests contain only a standard HTTP GET with no query parameters tied to you.

5. Support Banner

The Extension may display a horizontal banner at the top of web pages asking you to support the developer. This banner:

• Can be permanently disabled via the toggle in the extension popup
• Can be dismissed for the current campaign by clicking the close (×) button
• Does not track clicks, impressions, or any user interaction
• Does not inject any third-party scripts or tracking pixels
• Is rendered inside an isolated Shadow DOM — it cannot read or modify page content

6. Permissions Explained

• storage — to save your currency preferences and banner state locally
• Access to all websites — required to display the optional support banner on any page you visit; the Extension does not read, modify, or report any page content
• Network access to our server — to fetch live exchange rates and banner configuration

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. It is safe to use for all ages.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make any changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
